ACCOMPLISHMENTS

Since 2000, Rivers Alliance and our partners have gained:

  • Funding for the state’s USGS Water-Monitoring Network
  • A ban on the use of MTBE in gasoline
  • A law protecting drinking-water aquifers
  • A law requiring protective flow standards for all streams
  • A ban on “packaged” sewer-treatment plants in drinking-water watersheds
  • Protection of drinking-water watershed lands from mining
  • Reform of the Connecticut Environmental Policy Act regarding state projects
  • Mandate of low-impact certification for hydroelectric plants receiving state funds
